Out for a Spin
Jeanie Sausele, Caleb Nei & Kevin Johnson
Jeanie Sausele cultivated her passion for jazz vocals and the Great American Songbook by performing within the Washington DC area jazz community and studying with dynamic performing artists, including Grammy nominees Cyrille Aimée, Kate McGarry, and Jane Monheit. Also actively engaged as a visual artist, Jean Sausele-Knodt’s work is exhibited throughout the East Coast and is held in corporate and private collections.
Caleb Nei spends most of his evenings playing piano somewhere in the greater Northern Virginia area. He provides music in solo, duo, trio, and quartet configurations for more than 200 events each year. His every Tuesday and Thursday night gig with bassist Kevin Johnson at Travinia Italian Kitchen consistently draws a diverse crowd of jazz enthusiasts. A native of small-town Huntington, Indiana, he graduated from his hometown school, Huntington University, with a Bachelor of Arts in music, with a concentration in music for the contemporary church. He has also studied jazz piano with Dr. Robert Larson at Shenandoah University. He finds great joy in elevating important events in a way only live music can.
Kevin Johnson is an in-demand bass player in Northern Virginia. He’s the managing editor for NoTreble.com, the largest online magazine for bassists. In that role, he’s reported on every aspect of the bass world from album and gear reviews to interviews with artists ranging from Les Claypool to Larry Graham to Victor Wooten. He’s also been a regular contributor to Bass Player Magazine.
